Dr Ward has recently undertaken further education and training in the anterior approach to hip arthroplasty, an approach that leads to improved recovery times. Dr Ward has also undertaken training and gained accreditation to perform robotic surgery, a state-of-the-art surgical aid that improves precision in the placement of partial and total knee replacements. After graduating from Flinders University in 1996, Dr Ward obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005. He then completed post fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroplasty with two internationally regarded surgeons; Dr Keith Holt, at the Perth Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, and Dr Leo Pinczewski, at North Sydney Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. This training supported sub-specialisations in all facets of knee and shoulder surgery, particularly ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Dr Ward continues to maintain up-to-date knowledge through continuing professional development and education, including specialist visits internationally.
