Dr Cundy undertook training in orthopaedic surgery at hospitals across South Australia and Queensland. After becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, he completed clinical fellowships at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the prestigious Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London that focused on complex childhood bone disease and spinal deformity.
