Orthopaedics SA Media Policy
As a private specialist practice, Orthopaedics SA welcomes the opportunity to work with the media on stories that will:
- help to advance the understanding of the diagnosis, surgical treatment and non-surgical management of orthopaedic and musculo-skeletal conditions in adults and children
- assist in the dissemination of information regarding orthopaedic research and clinical advancements
- benefit the health and well being of the broader community
Orthopaedics SA aims to be responsive to the needs of the media and provide quality assistance, timely communication and access to the most appropriate resources at all times.
Privacy
While Orthopaedics SA is pleased to assist with media enquiries, patient care is our principal concern and we are committed to the protection of our patients’ right to privacy.
Orthopaedics SA is bound by strict legal guidelines regarding privacy and confidentiality and cannot release health or personal information without the signed consent of the patient. Where a child is under the age of 18, written consent of the parent or guardian is required.
We will be pleased to assist the media with their individual requirements once written consent has been obtained. We also understand and respect the right of the patient, parent or guardian to decline their consent. Where this occurs, media representatives will be notified accordingly.

Media Guidelines
Orthopaedics SA is a private specialist practice with consulting sites at North Adelaide, Ashford, Bedford Park and Henley Beach. Members of the media wishing to access these facilities and speak with our specialists or individual patients, will be required to first contact the Practice Manager, Marina Dearsley as above.
Permission to film, videotape, photograph or record must be arranged through the North Adelaide Office in advance of a visit to any Orthopaedics SA site. Media Authorisation Forms must be signed on the day by patients who consent to their image, voice or name being used by the media.
We ask that where relevant the correct name, title and spelling of our practice, staff or doctors be used in any final media report or story.
The Practice Manager will be responsible for escorting members of the media throughout the duration of their visit to Orthopaedics SA.
