Mr Henningsen is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with an active interest in surgery for arthritis, sports injuries and trauma.

He is a graduate of the University of Adelaide (1983) and was admitted to a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1990, following six years of postgraduate training.

Following his surgical fellowship, he worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross (the Swiss Red Cross) as a War Surgeon in Afghanistan. After this he has returned to Adelaide where he is a Senior Visiting Specialist at both the Flinders Medical Centre and the Repatriation General Hospital, Daw Park.

He maintains an active interest in the teaching and research activities of the Flinders University of South Australia and has interests in arthritis surgery, arthroscopic surgery and trauma.
