Dr Anthony Samson

Dr Anthony Samson is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip, knee, and trauma surgery, with a particular interest in joint replacement. He manages patient conditions associated with arthritis, trauma and sports injuries and has a particular interest in knee arthritis and replacement. Through his research and ongoing education, he utilises the best available techniques to ensure an optimum outcome for his patients.

At Orthopaedics SA, Dr Samson consults privately at Flinders Private Hospital, and is a hip and knee replacement Staff Specialist for public patients treated at Flinders Private Hospital (formerly the Repatriation General Hospital). Dr Samson’s role as a Staff Specialist for the Southern Area Local Health Network also includes trauma, sports and general orthopaedics.

Dr Samson has trained locally and internationally throughout his surgical career. A personal highlight was heading overseas with his family to complete a clinical arthroplasty fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Not only did he further his education and skills in complex primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, he also developed an interest in improving Patient Reported Outcome Scores. Since returning to Adelaide he has continued his research and implemented outcome scores for the arthroplasty department whilst being involved in registrar training and medical student education as an Associate Lecturer for Flinders University.
